    Quality Assurance Engineer

    As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will join a growing team and influence the next generation of our testing infrastructure, find potential bugs in our platform and assist all teams in producing a reliable and stable product.

    The Quality Assurance Engineer is an advocate and a tester of quality for the staff as well as our readers. You will support the development and data organization by developing reusable and precise test specification cases, processes, and standards. You will also be responsible for developing and executing manual and automated tests, investigate and assist in problem analysis, as well as resolution of delivered software components.

    Essential Functions

    • Create detailed, comprehensive and structured test plans and test cases to support the validation of features and functionality of current and future websites
    • Automate tests using internal and open source tools & infrastructure
    • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities as part of the product development and project management processes 
    • Perform any or all of the following: manual testing, functional testing, database testing, load testing, regression testing and performance testing 
    • Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through resolution
    • Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process
    • Review functional requirements and specifications, as well as appropriate technical design documents, to provide meaningful feedback that supports product validation and QA process 
    • Utilize both formal and informal channels to facilitate the progress of work
    • Proactively monitor production environments and report any issues uncovered 
    • Assist in managing and maintaining QA and UAT environments 
    • Actively participate in process improvement discussions 
    • Continue to acquire and apply new knowledge and learning 
    • Work with Software Development Engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented
    • Embrace a culture of accountability for ensuring the system has minimal defects and adheres to company standards; including tracking test coverage and performance, while investigating and understanding production defect patterns
    • Develop automated scripts that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability.
    • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.

    Technical Skills/Qualifications

    • 2-3 years experience in Quality Assurance testing, including utilizing various QA methodologies, tools, and processes
    • Experience with automation testing tools and libraries such as Postman. SOAPUI, Selenium, Protractor, Artillery.io
    • Experience testing 3rd party integrations
    • Experience in testing mobile technologies, back-end services, and consumer analytics
    • Thorough understanding of HTML, CSS, JS, SQL, GIT
    • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
    • A sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success

    We’ll see it as a plus if you also have…

    • 5+ years experience in Quality Assurance testing, including utilizing various QA methodologies, tools, and processes
    • Experience using Data Driven Testing (SOAPUI)
    • Experience with load/performance testing at scale on testing environments
    • Experience testing with different advertising platforms

    • Inductive Reasoning — The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
    • Conflict Resolution — The ability to reach common ground to resolve/negotiate conflicts with team members
