    SEO Specialist

    Are you passionate about search algorithms, content and digital marketing? The Penny Hoarder is seeking an SEO Specialist for its editorial team. 

    Under the guidance of the SEO manager, the SEO Specialist researches, recommends and helps implement on-site, off-site and technical optimizations to improve performance of the organic search channel. The SEO Specialist also works with content creators to plan and optimize content for search.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Performs basic on-site optimization: topic relevance, metadata, subtopic coverage, keyword usage
    • Creates content briefs for Editorial team, including keyword analysis, competitive insights and topic research
    • Performs content gap analysis to ensure TPH is developing authority for key topic areas and achieving visibility for correlating keywords 
    • Audits and optimizes sitewide internal linking and anchor text 
    • Audits and corrects keyword cannibalization issues
    • Monitors Google Search Console for messages, errors and warnings; fixes or escalates issues to senior SEO staff
    • Contributes to content promotion efforts, including syndication, PR outreach, audience survey development and content partnerships 
    • Assists with basic elements of technical site audits (i.e. issues indicated by SEO tools like Ahrefs and Oncrawl) and monitors the site for technical issues; fixes or escalates issues to SEO Manager and/or IT team for fixes
    • Maintains regular learnings through SEO and digital marketing publications, videos, podcasts, etc. to stay up-to-date on SEO best practices; applies learnings to applicable projects
    • Assists with company-wide SEO evangelization through staff training, education and support

    Technical Skills / Qualifications

    • At least 1 year of professional full-time SEO experience
    • College degree in marketing, communications, English, PR or a related field preferred, but not required
    • Proficiency in on-page and sitewide optimization
    • Competence with SEO/digital marketing tools and platforms such as Ahrefs, OnCrawl and Google Search Console/Analytics
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Familiarity with Wordpress or similar CMS
