Web Developer Lead

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads onsite and offshore developer resources; Responsible for keeping off-shore development at same quality and production levels as onsite resources
  • Provides technical solutions for achieving The Penny Hoarder’s product and business needs
  • Ensures the entire development group adheres to the standard Software Development LifeCyle process (SDLC), and identifies and acts on enhancements that increase the production of the group
  • Coaches, trains and develops team to drive continued success; Models the way as a strong player/coach
  • Acts as primary “[R]esponsible” (RACI)  resource when dealing with Severity 2 and above production issues
  • Accepts responsibility for overall team performance; Easily tracks and communicates team’s results to senior leadership
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization to drive collaborative, results-focused partnerships
  • Collaborates with Scrum Master to ensure sprints are delivered on-time and that they meet quality goals
  • Partners with Quality Assurance team to minimize bugs onsite and in each sprint
  • Dedicates 75% of time to coding
  • Consults on product development across all products/business partners
  • Engages in vendor selection and acts as an IT representative in the exploration of vendor capabilities and limitations

Technical Skills / Qualifications:

  • Builds software. Senior (10+ years ) level experience in full-stack/multiple Front End languages HTML, JavaScript, PHP, and/or CSS, as well as assisting more junior developers with their deliverables 
  • 3+ years experience in SQL
  • 3+ years of experience in Cloud architecture
  • 3+ years of experience supervising development teams
  • 2+ years leading projects
  • 2+ experience in at least one backend language (Java/Python preferred)

Supervisory/Responsibility:

  • Maintains a continuous improvement mindset across team be conducting code evaluations, providing feedback, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. In some cases, will be called upon to lead these initiatives.
  • Provides continuous positive and constructive feedback to team members throughout the year and conducts quarterly development sprints and annual reviews. (Constructive meaning directly applicable to improvement and/or remediation steps) 
  • Maintains Service Level Agreements (SLA) to stakeholders
  • Represents software development in stakeholder discussions
  • Utilizes team attendance and tracking to ensure production deliverables are met 
  • Owns bi-weekly reporting on defects and rework tasks; Identifies trends and remediation steps to lessen rework
  • Provides and continuously updates documented Software Development best practices to team; Ensures compliance

  • Gives and accepts feedback and guidance with a positive attitude and adjusts accordingly to meet the needs of the team and company
